Half of getting anywhere in life is believing in yourself…the other half? People believing in you.
To some degree it doesn’t even matter whether or not you have confidence in yourself if those around you think you’re already a failure. Even trying at anything just seems like a waste of time when you’re faced with the people who are supposed to support and love you unconditionally but don’t.
Long story short, it sucks and it makes being a high school drop out that much harder, even if you dropped out for a good reason (like being able to breathe normally without the weight of world collapsing on your head).
